The increase in solar PV capacity is making eyes on energy storage systems generating business opportunities for batteries and storage systems in general.


Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are one of the newest solutions for mechanical, chemical or thermal systemsthat storeenergy for later use. These systems are the most used for  energy accumulation among other things because of the various advantages they offer: they do not require much maintenance and can store more energy in a smaller space.

These systems complement renewable energies, helping to eliminate intermittencies from the electricity grid, ensuring energy supply and operational continuity. But the BESS is not only composed of batteries, but it is an entire system that includes both hardware and software components, low and high level.

The increase in solar energy production is leading us to consider the importance of its storage, since this management capacity will largely avoid renewable energy discharges.

On the other hand, Green Hydrogen is also added as a complement to photovoltaics.  This has a fundamental role in the decarbonization of some sectors such as transport and industry, where electrificationis not possible.

In the future, one of the roles that Green Hydrogen will have to play in decarbonization will be to be a seasonal energy storage technology. The ability of hydrogen to be produced from the electrolysis of water in an  electrolyzer using electricity and then used to produce electricity in a fuel cell makes it an ideal tool for storing energy in large quantities and for long periods of time.

Both batteries and green hydrogen play a fundamental role as a complement to photovoltaic solar energy that does not stop growing. This is becoming urgent and it is necessary to accelerate both aid and regulation to make possible the deployment of batteries and green hydrogen on a large scale.
